Source code is compiled into binaries, which are machine executable files.

Within a MUX or MUSH context, the term source code usually refers to C or C++ Hardcode, but the language could be any other high-level or medium-level language. Source can also include human-readable scripts which are not necessarily compiled, but contain instructions understood and interpreted by a corresponding shell.
