MCP is the MUD Client Protocol, a generic parsing protocol which permits a MU* client and a server to communicate data outside of the visible stream. This is generally used to power things such as local text-editing, or game-specific plugin packages. MCP is not widely used by the MUSH family of servers, but is in fairly wide use for MOOs and some MUCK variants.

MCP support among clients, with the exception of Trebuchet, is often limited to support for local-editing.

MCP specification, hosted at the Trebuchet client page. MCP-GUI package, used by Trebuchet and Fuzzball MUCK.
